- Prepare an annual 'State of Our Estuary' report (Lakes and Coorong)
- Provide a regular opportunity for all stakeholders to discuss outcomes
- Provide independent, impartial scientific advice to all stakeholders
- Provide guidance for future environmental research
- Coordinate a comprehensive monitoring program
- Independently assess proposed solutions to ecological challenges
